With a range of influences from T. Rex to Johnny Cash, SPEEDTWINN play a unique blend of American roots and British Rock'n'Roll.
REVIEWS:
LA Weekly (February 2002) SPEEDTWINN at Lava Lounge. Gary Twinn was alt-country back when alt-country wasn't cool. SPEEDTWINN effectively toes the line of weed-chewing nouveau honky-tonk and good old Ballrooms of Mars -era T Rex. If Split Lip Rayfield were playing at half-speed and stripped of their cornhusking, you'd get something like SPEEDTWINN. Gary, an Englishman, is charismatic and as smooth as amber ale with his ballads and odes, while fellow Brit Derwood Andrews (formerly of Generation X) and American rhythm fillers Mario Barmosa (bass) and Dale Daniel (drums) admirably push their instruments toward something fresh and modern. Metaphorically speaking, these are the "legitimate" sons of Johnny Cash, folks. (Chuck Mindenhall) Links: Orange Recordings |
